Perhaps it was the couch-jumping incident on the Oprah Winfrey show, but for some reason Tom Cruise rubs many people the wrong way. For a span of nearly 20 years, he was box office gold and heck, hes still doing pretty well but its actually the Scientology thing that gets most of usmore so than the couch jumping thing. And we are not the only ones a bit put off by Cruise and his passion for the Church of Scientology. The hacker group Anonymous has vowed revenge on the Church of Scientology by staging a protest next weekend through the streets of Santa Rosa, CA; Irving, TX; Nashville, TN; and Scientologys American base in Clearwater, FL.
Why the protests? The group has been protesting them ever since Scientology aggressively pursued every media outlet and website that posted video of Tom Cruise addressing their membership in 2008. According to the Cleveland Leader, Anonymous goal is to get Scientology stripped of its tax exempt status, which it has had ever since 1993 when the IRS recognized it as a religion.
Protests are good and all, but we want to know what kind of hacking revenge is Anonymous going to seek against the Church of Scientology. Perhaps they will gain access into the Churchs servers to expose evidence for the FBIs investigation into how the Church is allegedly involved in human trafficking and the use free labor? Just a thought.
